THE FORWARD WITH LANCE ARMSTRONG

The Forward Podcast with Lance Armstrong gives the audience a rare and revealing listen into Armstrong's conversations with some of the most interesting people he's met through the years. Guests of the weekly podcast include an eclectic range of personalities—some well-known, others simply with intriguing stories to tell—from the world of politics, entertainment, art, business, sport and more. After a trip to Sri Lanka following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami FK and his wife Leah were inspired to help via a bicycle distribution system. They founded World Bicycle Relief. WBR is a comprehensive bicycle distribution program to aid poverty relief in developing countries around the world. To date WBR has donated over 300,000 bicycles. FK was in Aspen with Lance to discuss their old history together at SRAM, World Bicycle Relief and how people can help.

The podcast features special guest appearances, insightful course previews and race analysis from Armstrong’s distinct point of view, which takes listeners deep inside the world’s most iconic cycling race. In addition to a daily recap of all the action, Armstrong, who also hosts The Forward podcast, shares anecdotes from his years racing Le Tour.

Smith’s career evolved in unexpected directions when he began to explore the creative potential in what he calls “writing songs with people that don’t write songs.” Collaborations with homeless youth to HIV affected villagers in South Africa led to the founding of his latest project Songwriting with:Soldiers, a program that brings professional songwriters together with wounded veterans to write songs about combat and the return home. Smith opens up about how much he gets out of these retreats and talks through a recent session. Smith also performs a song written with a soldier as well as a track off his new record.

He was the first Hispanic to the lead the Austin Police Department in its history. Born in Cuba, Acevedo was 4 years old when he migrated to the United States with his family in 1968. He grew up in California and earned his Bachelor of Science degree, with honors, in Public Administration from the University of La Verne in California. Acevedo began his career in law enforcement as field patrol officer in East Los Angeles with the California Highway Patrol in 1986. Mack Brown is a former college football coach at the University of Texas, North Carolina, Tulane, and Appalachian State. He finished his coaching career at Texas with 1 National Championship, 2 Big 12 Championships, and the 2005 Paul “Bear” Bryant award as the college football coach of the year.
